With the arrival of summer comes the season for shared experiences, but with so many options available, it is often difficult to find the best ones. Our summer program guide brings together all the destinations, events and excursions that are worth adding to your leisure bucket list. Our recommendations include activities for both children and adults. Feel free to browse our repertoire and fill the sunny months with meaningful relaxation!

If you like to wander around and get to know the wildlife of the area, then head to the Big Island of Rácalmás, which is open all summer long! The 4.5 km long footpath crosses the island, which is a special protected island, and is a floodplain nature trail with 17 stations guiding you through one of the most magical corners of the Danube flora and fauna.

From this year, you can also discover a new highlight when you set off from Rácalmás. Four newly designed thematic trails will allow you to discover the area’s attractions, and at the trailheads you can scan QR codes to find sights, photos and other useful information. With a wide variety of attractions and routes, there’s something for everyone on the theme-specific sections.

The whole family can enjoy a trip to the zoo, and the Exotic Animal Park in Előszállás is the perfect place to do just that. The zoo showcases over half a hundred species from Africa, Australia and South America, and in early June a new section, the Maki Yard, opened to visitors, so you can meet the new arrivals when you visit.

This summer, the organisers of the Ráckeve Summer have prepared a varied and exciting line-up. There are concerts and performances of all genres, as well as sports activities. And if you’re looking for a festival experience, the Duna-part Feszt is the place to be between 3 and 5 July, where you can party to some of the country’s hottest acts!

If it’s summer, don’t miss out on waterfront experiences! Forecasts predict that the heat will continue this year, making Szalki Island Free Beach in Dunaújváros one of the best choices for those looking to cool off, with free swimming in a picturesque setting between 15 June and 15 September. The well-developed infrastructure offers plenty of opportunities for relaxation not only in the water but also on the shore, with fire pits, sports fields and walking trails.
Lake Velence, just a short distance from Rácalmás, is one of the tourist centres of our country, where you will find many bathing opportunities. There is an open beach, a built-up bathing area, a lake bath and a fun bath, as well as a spa and thermal bath, catering for all needs.

Getting on a bike and riding in the cooling wind is one of the best things to do on a hot summer’s day. If you’re looking for active leisure time, cycle along the 15 km stretch of the renovated Danube Cycle Route between Rácalmás and Dunaújváros, or enjoy the warm and refreshing summer days on the bike paths.

After a day full of experiences, it’s nice to relax in the shade with a refreshing drink. Try this simple, refreshing drink recipe – whether you’re making it for family or friends, it’s guaranteed to be a hit!
