Hankook Tire held its 15th Proactive Awards ceremony in January this year. The annual celebration aims to recognize employees around the world who have demonstrated proactive leadership and achieved success through innovative solutions.
We are very proud that Ferenc Marksteiner’s achievements over the past year have made him one of the winners of the 2021 Proactive Awards in the Leadership category. We spoke to our colleague about the past year and the background of the award.
What do you think is the secret to the success of your department, under your charge, which is now internationally acknowledged?
I think our biggest strength is that despite the many difficulties we faced last year, we managed to keep the team spirit and we were able to keep improving. I believe that this is the reason for our consistently outstanding production results, which have outperformed all other shifts and have given us confidence and constant motivation. This award is not my success. It is the recognition of the work of my team, and as a manager I am extremely proud of the whole Building process, my fellow supervisors and the people working on the machines. I consider it a joint success that we have had an excellent year, giving our best day by day, despite the challenges and the shortage of staff. With this recognition, we have also received a confirmation that our daily efforts are paying off.
Your words are full of passion! Do you have a favorite area within your work?
My favorite is the organization and delivery of trainings. I love to work with people and I can give quality training to operators in person. I used to organize a lot more of these and I aim to continue to organize regular training sessions in the future. I need to keep in touch with all my colleagues on a daily basis and I feel it is very important to teach my colleagues all that helps us to do better.
With a prize like this in your pocket, what are your plans for the future?
To work, to grow, to have another successful year, and of course to teach! But my first and most important plan is to talk to my colleagues one by one and tell them how grateful I am for their work. I would also like to thank everyone who supported and helped me in whatever way to win this award.
