Me-time – Loránd Pásztor spends time with photography

Loránd Pásztor

Loránd Pásztor has been a member of our team for more than two years as a IT expert, and he admits that he loves his job, also, because, he always finds common ground with his colleagues. When the workday is over and he needs to relax, he grabs his camera and heads outdoors.

Why did you choose photography as your hobby?

It all started not with photography, but with nature walks. My partner and I live in an apartment, so we’re consciously looking for opportunities to spend quality passtime outdoors. We like to go for long walks where it’s not about the destination or some very special attraction, but about being outside in the fresh air, walking, talking, and laughing. We often go out to the clearing near the village, but the island of Rácalmás is also a big favorite. At the beginning of this year we had the idea to make these walks even more exciting and buy a camera to capture the little wonders of nature, the things that catch our eye during these walks.

Do you have favorite subjects that you particularly like to photograph?

For now, I take nature photos, or occasionally catch our little dog on walks with us. We also recently did a night shoot, which was a new challenge, but I really enjoyed it. I’d like to broaden my horizons and my skills, but it will take time and patience. I don’t have a photographic qualification, I am self-taught, e.g. I read up on possible solutions, I am a member of several Facebook groups on the subject and I often exchange experiences with my photographer friends. I enjoy the fact that there is always room for improvement in photography, but it’s not just about being prepared. Your unique vision is just as important as what you notice and what you find worth capturing in the landscape in front of you. A mossy tree, a flower or a small creature…all waiting for you to see something out of the ordinary, and that’s very motivating for me.

What do you do with the finished pictures?

I print the ones I particularly like, but I often give them as gifts within the family. Later on I would like to take part in photo competitions, but I have not yet taken any steps towards that front. For now, I’m practicing diligently, I feel I’m getting better at it, but more importantly, I’m completely relaxing and recharging myself in the process.
