As a relaxing break from the varied activities of the Easter long weekend, it’s nice to organise a fun movie night with films that will get you in the holiday mood. We’ve put together our Easter movie guide with this in mind, and we guarantee that each and every one of them will be a great treat. Of course, the cinematic experience also comes with a snack, so in addition to the movie suggestions, we’re sharing two recipes that will be a leftover saviour, dressing up your festive menu with a new look and making the perfect addition to your family time.
Hop (2011)

In this animated live-action film the Easter Bunny’s son, E.B., dreaming to become a rock-star, and unemployed Fred, get into a bit of trouble together until it’s up to them to save Easter.
The dog who saved Easter (2014)

Zeus, a lovable Labrador, lives a peaceful life in a dog boarding house while his family takes an Easter holiday on a boat trip. Of course, complications do not avoid the dog-sitter-in-headquarters, leaving Zeus and the other pets to save the pet-sitter and the Easter activities.
Happy Easter (1984)

A classic French comedy following the story of an Easter long weekend full of chaos. Jean-Paul Belmondo, the legendary actor, plays a well-heeled tycoon who, married but still in love with women, takes the opportunity to court them when his wife goes away. However, his wife’s flight is cancelled and she returns home unexpectedly, and the comic struggle to get him out of his predicament begins.
Ice Age: Easter Mission (2016)

A special themed piece from the hit animated film series, this is the perfect choice if you’re only going to sit down in front of the screen for a short while. In this 30-minute tale, Sid is tasked with guarding some bird eggs, a project so successful that it soon turns into an egg hatching business. But thanks to some bad guys, the Easter eggs go missing, and Sid needs the help of his friends to solve the case.
There are usually a few ingredients left over from the festive menu that, with a little creativity, can be used to make great snacks to accompany the movies. In our recipes, we’ll show you how to give a new face to the ingredients of your Easter dishes.
Egg dipping

- 4 hard-boiled eggs
- 1 small head of onion
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 3 tablespoons sour cream
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- grated zest of half a lemon
- half a bouquet of parsley
- salt, pepper, herbs to taste
Finely chop the onion and garlic, then put all the ingredients in a food processor. Process until you get a completely smooth, creamy consistency. If it’s a bit thick, you can loosen it up with sour cream and mayonnaise. Perfect accompaniment to nachos, chips or grissini.
Extra tip: For seasoning, thyme, basil and mint are excellent choices and are highly recommended.
Bonfire cupcake

For the dough
- 30 dkg braided loaf
- 2.5 dl whipped cream
- 2.5 dl milk
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 whole egg
- 10 dkg sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
For the filling
- 30 dkg apples
- 5 dkg butter
- 5 dkg sugar
- ground cinnamon to taste
- 20 teaspoons of fruit jam
For the foam
- 3 egg whites
- 5 dkg sugar
Tear the loaf into pieces and mix with the other ingredients of the dough. Line a muffin tin with muffin paper, spread the batter and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 20 minutes. While the pastry is baking, grate the apples and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Melt the butter for the filling in a saucepan, start caramelising the sugar in it and when it is browned, fry the grated apples. Whisk the egg whites and when they are almost stiff, add the sugar.
Spread a teaspoonful of fruit juice on each of the baked pasta, then pile the stewed apple and the egg whites on top. Return to the oven for a few minutes and wait for the foam to colour on top.
