News from the World of Hankook
Sometimes the future arrives in the form of an airless tire, sometimes it rolls toward us on a Porsche 911, and sometimes it can be found in the knowledge we gain. The past few months have brought plenty of exciting Hankook achievements and milestones: innovations, an Auto Bild test victory, a premium automotive partnership and the professional development of our colleagues have all made the headlines. Here is a glimpse of some of the most important news The Future Rolls with Hankook
Hankook’s engineers and designers are working on solutions that are completely redefining what a tire can do – exploring how a simple vehicle component can become an intelligent, sustainable and visually striking element of mobility.
With its airless design, the Non Pneumatic Tyre (NPT) aims to eliminate problems caused by punctures and tire pressure, while exciting developments are also underway in the field of sustainability. The mass-produced iON GT, for example, can be made from 77% sustainable materials. Meanwhile, Hankook and CALMANTECH’s Wheelbot 2 robotic platform can move sideways and even turn on the spot.
3D printing is already part of the present, too: it is used to create prototypes, new tread patterns and curing molds, and the technology is also making its way into the new TBR plant in our factory.
One of the most significant milestones in our company’s history has arrived: the Porsche 911 Carrera is now rolling off the production line equipped with Hankook’s premium performance tires.
The mixed-size tires developed specifically for this iconic model are designed not only to meet the demands of the vehicle’s driving dynamics, but also represent the culmination of a decade of development work and testing. Precise steering, outstanding high-speed stability and uncompromising grip – all in a tire fine-tuned on some of the world’s most demanding test tracks to match the exceptional performance of the 911 Carrera.
Hankook has demonstrated that it is also setting the pace in the world of electric vehicles: the iON FlexClimate won Auto Bild’s 2026 EV all-season tire comparison test.
The model received an “Exemplary” rating and achieved the maximum score of 1.2, while its particularly impressive 54,560-kilometer mileage was more than twice that of the lowest-performing tire in the test.
In wet braking, it also brought the test car to a stop more than five meters earlier than the last-place tire. It is therefore fair to say that the iON FlexClimate has set a new benchmark in the EV segment.
Knowledge You Can Build On
It is not only our technology that continues to evolve – our colleagues are taking new steps forward, too. The second year of the joint Technical Development University Studies program launched by Hankook and Dunaújváros University is now underway.
The two-semester program complements the practical experience gained at work with theoretical knowledge in areas including tire industry technologies, automation, quality management and energy management.
The credits earned can also be used toward future higher-education studies, while the next level of the program is already being prepared.
Congratulations to our colleagues who have successfully completed the program: Attila Juhász, Norbert Palik, Balázs Bihar, József Horinger, István Zoltán Braun, Zoltán Varga and Ákos Kajári!
