He started working at Hankook more than a decade ago, but at this year’s awards ceremony he was not only honored with a Long Service Award, but once again with the Excellence Award after having received the same award in 2016. The 37 years old young man from Dunaújváros, who works as a senior engineer in the IT team, was modest about the award, but enthusiastic about his work. We spoke to Csaba Meixner, MES Unit Engineer of the IT Team.
What attracted you to Hankook – the tires, or IT?
It is more the complexity of the factory. I used to work as a music editor for local and national radio stations, which was a very different world. In July 2011, I started working as an operator in the MES department, where, as a shift worker, I had the chance to experience the challenge of supporting the production management system of such a large factory with IT skills. In 2015, I joined Hankook as an engineer and from this year I had the pleasure of becoming a senior engineer and strengthen the team.
The new positions have obviously brought new challenges. Could this have something to do with the fact that you received the Excellence Award in 2016 and 2022?
I think so, yes. As an engineer, I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in development work, which has been very motivating. I have been involved in more and more innovations and have had the opportunity to implement more and more of my own ideas, all of which have brought measurable efficiency growth in production. It was probably these results and my enthusiasm that my superiors appreciated when they nominated me for the Excellence Award. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for recognizing my work in this way.
You’re almost an old hand, having been part of the “Hankook family” for 10 years. What keeps you here for so long?
The curiosity, the variety of challenging tasks, the opportunity to learn and the feeling, that what I do is important. I love to see how much I can make my colleagues’ tasks easier with some improvements. When I can shorten the time it takes to complete a task by one tenth, by writing a new program, or dramatically increase productivity by giving my colleagues additional information, it gives me a huge sense of achievement. At Hankook, I am given the space to often experience this sense of achievement, either by working with the team or by implementing my own ideas, which only strengthens my loyalty to the company.
What plans do you have for the future?
Even now my colleagues and myself are currently working on 3-4 developments that we have high hopes for. I am looking forward to continuing to face the current challenges, and if I run out of them, I will find another area to develop further.
