Factory News

Health, Development, Community
highlights from the past few months

The spring behind us was once again eventful: blood donations, medical examinations, office renovations, playful learning and awareness-raising developments added colour to Hankook’s everyday life.  Here is a brief summary of everything we took part in and everything that was achieved.

Blood donation – every drop counts

On 8 April, EHS Team once again organised blood donation, in which 74 of our colleagues took part. It is a great pleasure to see so many people feeling that helping others is important, as blood donation can save lives, and the willing effort here at the factory is truly exemplary. The next event is planned for the autumn, probably around September-October, in the VIP lounge of the main reception area. We will provide information about the exact date later – we hope that even more people will join us next time!

Free medical examinations – help take care of yourselves

Health is a treasure for everyone – that is why our company has joined Hungary’s comprehensive health examination program (MÁESZ). The goal is to make as many examinations available as possible. In June this year, Hungary’s largest mobile diagnostic centre offered a choice of 40 different general screening tests, including some that often involve long waiting lists or are difficult to access for financial reasons.
The program’s popularity is growing year by year – last year, for example, abdominal ultrasound and melanoma screening were fully booked within a few days, with a capacity of 100 people each. This reinforced our belief that it is worth continuing to expand the range of tests available. EHS Team is working to ensure that as many of our colleagues as possible have the opportunity to maintain their health.

Voluntary office renovation – working together for a common goal

An interesting and positive development in every respect was the move of the Demand Management Unit from the European headquarters to the Hungarian factory in the summer of 2024. The aim was to improve the efficiency of our logistics processes and provide our customers with faster and more accurate feedback on our stocks, which has now been successfully achieved.
In addition, the physical relocation brought with it a necessary but useful step: due to the cramped conditions in the logistics office, it became essential to set up a new office. One of the old offices in the test building was selected for this purpose, and its conversion and renovation was carried out by enthusiastic volunteers – colleagues from PIT and SCM. Thanks to them, the new unit now operates in a modern space suitable for receiving guests, maintaining direct contact with the European market.

Traffic rules test – playful learning, valuable prizes

Between 12 and 23 May, Hankook’s e-learning platform hosted a test on traffic rules, where participants could not only refresh their knowledge in a playful way, but also win valuable prizes. We had 15 minutes to complete the questionnaire, and those who completed the test without any mistakes were entered into a draw for car accessories donated by the Dunaújváros Police Department.
Congratulations to the winners: Andrea Csorvási, Rita Győri-Pavkó and László Merő!

Attitude shaping – development is our common cause

Within the framework of the Hankook Continuous Innovation Way (HCIWAY) project, we have already mentioned TOP Audits, during which the factory management aims to raise the condition of a selected machine or area to the best possible level. After the action is completed, the improvements are evaluated and then ranked – objectively, of course, as according to the rules, no one can evaluate their own area.
The latest audit was a success, for which we would like to thank everyone! The hard work put in was evident, and it was clear that everyone took the task seriously. This is particularly significant in the case of a manufacturing plant, where production efficiency is a priority.
However, changing attitudes is just as important. The TOP Audit not only creates order, but also brings a new perspective. Each audit typically lasts 1-2 months, and we are planning three more this year. As part of this, management assesses the current state of the factory and makes recommendations for necessary steps to be taken, then checks their implementation during the next audit.
If you have any insights or ideas regarding machine development, environmental improvement, protective equipment or facilities, please feel free to contact the PIT team!
