Hankook is the official tire partner of the W Series in 2021. This year is a very important year for us, as the Women’s Championship will be on track for eight Formula 1 race weekends, this season.
The W Series was launched to support the careers of women drivers in the 2019 season, where they have since been competing in Formula 3 cars. The German Touring Car Championship, the DTM, hosted the first races; but last year the entire season was cancelled due to the epidemic. This year, the drivers will not only be able to get behind the wheel of the single-seaters with renewed vigor, but will also be taking their skills to the next level by becoming a key feature of the racing circuit.
The drivers have been extremely satisfied with the Ventus Race tires from the very start, with Britain’s Jamie Chadwick, the inaugural W Series champion, commenting,
“It is of key importance that as drivers we may be confident of the performance of the tires in extreme situations. Hankook’s tires have delivered consistent quality under all race conditions in the first season, thus the drivers had to concentrate only on the race, which has resulted in many spectacular battles. The stakes are higher this year, but I am confident that, whereas, for the Hankook team this is just another new challenge, for my fellow competitors and myself it can demonstrate what we are capable of.”
W Series Race Director, Dave Ryan, also praised the relationship with Hankook. He said it was a great opportunity to partner with the women’s team in Formula 1 this year and they were confident that they could rely on Hankook’s unique expertise.
The first race will take place on 26 June in Le Castellet, France; meanwhile, the 18 drivers will get behind the wheels of their 270 hp cars for the last time this year on 30th October, in Mexico. The eight-stop series will also be visiting the Hungaroring, so if you want to see live how our Ventus Race tires (and the ladies!) test, visit the Hungarian Grand Prix between 30 July and 1 August!
