Our work environment greatly influences how our day unfolds: how well we can concentrate, how comfortable we feel, and how well we can collaborate with one another. That is why company management decided to completely renovate the older office spaces and create a more modern, people-centered environment. The preparatory phase, led by GA, began last October, and just a few weeks later, in December, demolition work was already underway.
Based on the needs of our colleagues
The planning process began with a crucial step: identifying the needs of our colleagues. The designer personally toured every affected area, spoke with employees, and listened to what would most effectively make their daily work easier. Based on these comments and suggestions, a detailed, comprehensive list of requirements was compiled, which served as the foundation for the entire renovation. The goal was to create a more attractive, functional, comfortable, and ergonomic environment, one that reflects 21st-century work culture and where everyone can feel at home.
The first phase of the renovation became a tangible reality by May: the integrated production offices (MF1, MF2, MF3), the QC, Facility, and EHS offices, as well as the logistics office, have all been renovated. These upgrades were truly necessary: the logistics office was built in 2006, and the large office back in 2010, so by now they were well overdue for modernization. The renovation is visually striking as well: we’ve said goodbye to the iconic green floor, which has been replaced by a much more restrained laminated flooring that exudes a modern vibe, creating a cleaner, calmer atmosphere for day-to-day work.
Modern kitchenettes were installed in all areas according to a unified design concept: each features a sink, a coffee maker, a microwave, and a kitchen counter, and where space allowed, a dining area was also created. Although these features were present before, this is the first time they have been given a well-thought-out, organized design that is easy for everyone to use. There was also a need for meeting areas, which was fully addressed. The open-office layout was naturally retained, while significant emphasis was placed on noticeably reducing the previous noise levels. To this end, the spaces were fitted with ceiling acoustic panels that effectively absorb sound and eliminate the constant background buzz so typical for open-offices.
Everyone is delighted that a brand-new, dedicated locker room has been added to the large office. Although the space existed previously, it has become now, for the first time, a true, well-equipped functional area where everyone can have their own locker. The installation of the locks is currently underway.
And the renovation continues: the next phase involves renovating the QA office located on the mezzanine level of Factory Hall 1, and plans are also underway to renovate the restrooms that have not yet been updated. The goal is to finally complete them in their entirety and give them a unified, high-quality look.
We believe that the company’s growth must also be reflected in our work environment. Just as technology and processes are constantly evolving, we strive to create a workplace that we can all be proud of and that supports the daily lives of the Hankook community from the heart.
“Fortunately, the construction work did not disrupt our day-to-day operations – thanks primarily to the patience, flexibility, and exemplary cooperation of the teams involved. Everyone quickly found their temporary workstations, adapted to the changes, and together we got through these past few months. We hope that the new, beautiful workstations will make up for the inconvenience! The assessment and fulfillment of any follow-up requests are still ongoing,” said Attila Bánhegyesi, GA Unit Manager.
