Hankook delighted you with a variety of activities
The last period of 2023 was also eventful for the company. Hankook’s management tried to spoil us with events to ensure that everyone could find the most suitable way to relax.
An unforgettable running race
In September, the Indian summer was still in full swing. Accordingly, the 38th Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon and the KOMETA Pairs Half Marathon took place in great weather, with many of our employees taking part.
Our colleague Viktória Botlik summed up her experience as follows: “Gergő Miss and I were already considering taking part in a running race last year, as we are both long-distance running enthusiasts on a hobby level. It didn’t happen then, but this year, when we saw the call for entries, we almost immediately signed up for the Hankook-sponsored event’s pairs relay run, in which the first member of the relay – in our case Gergő – had to complete 12.7 km, while I had to complete 8.4 km. The event was monumental: the course ran along the Buda and Pest Lower Embankments, connected by the Chain Bridge. A record number of runnerstook part, including professionals and amateurs from several countries. The sponsors offered a variety of gifts and games to visitors at a stand. We, of course, ran in the Hankook team colors and it was an uplifting feeling to have the support of volunteers atthe different sections of the course and at the refreshment points. Upon arrival at the Hankook stand, we were greeted with refreshing drinks, energy bars and a selection of fruits. All in all, we had a great time, so if the opportunity arises, we would be happy to run again next year – even the full distance, as individuals.”
Our colleague József Takács was very satisfied with the organization of the Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon. As he said, the volunteers at the Laufenn tent were helpful and kind. And the refreshments were great before and after the race. “The run itself was great, I can only recommend it. As far as I could tell, other people also enjoyed the run with so many participants. It was nice to see how many people are interested in this kind of sport,” he said in response to our question.
Ildikó Németh and her partner also had an unforgettable experience, as it was the first time they had completed the half marathon distance under competitive conditions. “The preparation and organization of the Laufenn team was excellent. The race itself, the route and the refreshment points were flawlessly planned and executed. We will definitely take part in another event of this magnitude,” said Ildikó, thanking the organizers for the opportunity.
Csanád Bárdos said that thanks to the professional organization, the large number of participants quickly completed the registration process again this year. “The beginning of the race was pleasant because it was still cool, but when the sun started to rise, I started to warm up. I broke the deadlock at about 18 km and from there it was an easy jog to the finish. I finished in 2 hours 6 minutes, which was my personal goal, and I didn’t even have a muscle ache the next day,” said Csanád.
Food specialities at the Pumpkin Festival
In strict chronological order, the next major event in which Hankook was involved was the 19th Rácalmás Pumpkin Festival. The event has a long history and over the years it has grown to become a well-known and respected event not only in the region, but also at a national level. As the festival was supported by our company, Hankook employees were admitted free of charge by showing their ID card. Visitors could also taste Korean specialties at the Hankook tent.
A full house for the second Open Day
Our Family Open Day at the plant in August was a huge success. So it was no question that, if the opportunity presents itself, we will provide another opportunity in 2023 to show our relatives what life is like at Hankook. This year’s second open day was also a sell-out. The programme was structured in a similar way as in August, with a tour of the main building after Hankook House, followed by the factory visit itself. But let the pictures tell the story!
The hook has been thrown
One of the big events of the autumn was a fishing tournament organized by the Works Council (WC), which lasted more than a month. The competition was held in Hantos this year, and WC prezidentGábor Németh said: “We tried to arrange the dates so that everyone could take part, depending on their shift schedule. In total, more than 100 colleagues registered. We were all eager to fish in the early hours of the morning and waited until the afternoon for the catches. All days were successful, with the top three finishers in each of the two categories receiving valuable prizes.” Congratulations to all participants, we will continue next year.
