In 2023, we have launched again several charitable projects. These not only strengthened the company’s ties with the surrounding communities, but also encouraged us to get involved in the community and be environmentally responsible. We have also supported safer traffic. We can promise one thing: we will continue!
Our company has been operating in Hungary for 17 years and stands out from its competitors not only for its economic performance but also for its social responsibility. It is important for us to contribute to improving the quality of life of the people living in our environment and to support the development of education, health, sport and culture.
“For Hankook, supporting communities is a priority. We are proud that through our activities in Hungary we are not only strengthening our company, but also society. We want to give back something of what we get from the Hungarian people and the Hungarian market,” said our Managing Director Hyung Yun Kim.
Through our Tire Donation Program, last year we donated more than 1,500 tires to almost 150 non-profit organizations, including fire stations, civil guards, local governments and non-governmental organizations, contributing to road safety.
In addition to organized volunteering, our Employee Volunteer Program (KÖSZ, Hankook!) gives our employees the opportunity to decide on the direction and use of the financial support provided by our company. Since the beginning of KÖSZ, HANKOOK! over 300 projects have been realized. In the year 2023, with your help, we have accomplished 30 further projects, with hundreds of hours of work from our colleagues.
In 2023, we focused our attention on supporting the health sector. We financed the full roll-out of the nurse call system in the surgical department of the Szent Pantaleon Hospital in Dunaújváros, improving the efficiency and safety of patient care. The system will be installed this year.
The history of cooperation between the Dunaújváros Útkeresés Service and Hankook goes back many years.
We also supported events in the area, such as the Dunaújváros University Freshman Ball or the 19th Rácalmás Pumpkin Festival.
For the company, the well-being of employees is a priority, so as an official partner of the UEFA Europa League, we donated 200 tickets to the UEFA Europa League Final in Budapest and another 30 tickets to young footballers from the football clubs of Rácalmás and Dunaújváros.
We are proud to work in a community in which, for example, our employees also started fundraising in the run-up to Christmas.
As in the past, the GA Unit organized a collection at the end of 2023 – this time for the Igazgyöngy Foundation. “With your help, we were able to send them lots of toiletries, toys, sweets, books and stationery to make Christmas brighter for the children! Thank you so much!” – said the initiator Marcsi Kordics on behalf of the unit.
Another example is when Richárd Schwalm promoted an initiative in favor of the local Family Transition Home, and managed to raise over 200,000 HUF. “The collection was originally started by local car groups years ago. Fortunately, many people at the factory joined us, so in addition to the money, we were able to help the needy with lots of toys, sweets and hygiene products. Thank you all! I plan to announce the fundraiser action again before Christmas this year.” – said Richárd.
