Employee engagement and business support

Since the outbreak of the crisis in Ukraine on 24 February, the management of Hankook’s Rácalmás factory has been working to help those affected in as many ways as possible.

Keeping this in mind, we launched an employee fundraising campaign, whereby, in less than a week, you brought in huge quantities of non-perishable food, sanitary products and even warm clothes and blankets. On 9 March, your donations were handed over to the Donation Shelter, a collection point in Dunaújváros, who ensured that the donations reached the refugees as soon as possible. In addition, the factory is planning to purchase a further HUF 500,000 worth of consumer goods that are currently most needed by the victims of the crisis.

As the situation keeps constantly changing and different needs keep cropping up regularly, the most effective way to support the work of the organisations involved in the relief operations is to donate money; so, our company is supporting the humanitarian work of the Hungarian Red Cross with HUF 5.5 million.

Besides feeling compassion for those who have suffered these extraordinary events, the situation of refugees in Ukraine is of particular importance to us, as we want our Ukrainian colleagues to feel as safe as possible, both for themselves and their loved ones. For the relatives of our colleagues who have been forced to leave their home country, we provide temporary accommodation at Hankook House. At present, around 50 people have already moved in and we provide them not only with accommodation but also with three meals a day. In order to support their livelihood in the long term, we also offer them a job in the factory, depending on capacity and opportunities.

Our management team is constantly working to provide more support to refugees and we are monitoring the new needs as they arise. If you, as colleagues, would like to help, please join the dedicated Facebook group where you will find up-to-date information on the needs of refugees living in the hostel.
