As we all know, there is no stopping Hankook, our momentum is unstoppable. This is how our factory will continue expanding and our quality processes have passed the latest BMW audit. Let’s show you the details!!
In the middle of February, BMW representatives came to our factory for a routine two-day audit. Thanks to our collective efforts, the quality assurance process passed the audit, which was a great success. As many employees were involved in the two-day audit, it was a very important event in the life of the factory.
Automotive companies have requirements to their suppliers, so it is natural that a group as big as BMW has high expectations of Hankook. One of these is safety. We try to reduce the possibility of errors by automating our quality assurance system, so that the system decides on the condition of the product by eliminating the human factor. In practice it means that on uniformity machines, where the contour measurement on the sidewall of the tires used to be done with a point laser, it is now done on the entire sidewall surface using 2D technology. In addition, to address the problems encountered in the visual inspection, a newly installed camera system in the QA sorting process analyzes the correct orientation of the tires and at the same time filters out any tires that may have been cured in reverse. This way we can meet BMW’s requirements.
It is good news for us that BMW experts have highlighted the cleanliness of our factory and the spectacular difference compared to previous audits. This is mainly thanks to the people working on the processes, and it contributed greatly to our success. At the same time, the quality inspectors pointed out that one of the elements of the 5S system is Sustain – to maintain: we must therefore also work continuously to maintain the current state.
Thanks to the hard work of our colleagues, the overall result of the audit was positive. Thank you all!
The news that our factory in Rácalmás will soon be expanded to include a truck and bus tire production plant has been announced. The investment, worth around €540 million, is scheduled for completion in 2027. The expansion will create around 450 new jobs. The new unit is expected to produce around 800,000 truck tires per year upon completion.
Our tire plant has been producing passenger and light truck tires since 2007 and is also playing a key role in the company’s expansion in Europe. Another interesting development is that with the completion of the third construction phase, our European plant has reached an annual production capacity of 17 million tires. Last year, our Hungarian plant also achieved the prestigious International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS certification.
