We have had remarkable success storiesat Hankook this quarter: there is a new committee working for us, we have won prestigious international certification, we have rolled rally champions to the finish line, and our tireshave been tested by the Honest Car Dealer in Arctic conditions. Haven’t you heard of these? Here are the top stories!

We’re going through the test in the Arctic Circle

One of the country’s most popular youtubers, István Kroneraff, the Hones Car Dealer  recently visited the Hankook test track in Ivalo, Finland, where our expert colleagues test the tiresin extreme conditions (minus 30 degrees Celsius at night, minus 20 degrees Celsius during the day) and on special tracks to ensure they meet all the requirements of winter weather and road conditions. If you want to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Arctic Circle and find out, among other things, why you need to keep your tirescold before the test or what a “traction beer” is, don’t hesitate to scan the QR code to watch the video!

The Employee Motivation Committee works for us

This autumn, the Employee Motivation Committee was set up to improve our environment and the wellbeing of employees at the factory through measures and incentives. With the active participation of employees, the Committee collects suggestions, needs and ideas, regularly evaluates their feasibility, decides on them and then initiates their implementation by the relevant department.

Ideas and suggestions can be sent to the Works Council at ut.hankook@gmail.com and are forwarded to the Employee Motivation Committee.

We have found that the e-mail address and the Internal Communication Group on Facebook are not enough, we need an additional communication channel where employees can express their opinions directly, even anonymously.

Everybody must have noticed the idea boxes placed next to the ID card readers. These have been put up so that people who for some reason cannot or do not wish to write an e-mail can also make suggestions.

So if you have an idea, suggestion or request, you can put it in one of the boxes on the forms provided or send it to the Works Council. Don’t hesitate to send them a message!

Winter Rubber Tutorial

It’s not exactly common knowledge, so many of us ask the question, what’s the difference between summer and winter tires? Why is it necessary to change them seasonally? Let’s see the answers! Winter and summer tireshave a fundamentally different structure and pattern, as they have to meet different challenges. Winter tiresare softer than the summer ones, thus the ensurebetter grip in fast-changing weather conditions, on wet or icy roads and at lower temperatures, are safer to drive in sub-zero temperatures and reduce fuel consumption.

It’s worth checking the quality of the winter tires you used last year before you put them on your car: a tread depth of less than 4 mm no longer guarantees safe grip on icy roads, so if your tires are more worn than that, it’s time to replace them. It’s worth buying a new set instead of those manufactured more than 10 years ago, because the material will be worn out by that time, with a much greater risk of tearing or cracking. And there is something else that is important: using tiresthat are suitable for the weather is a prerequisite for being a responsible road user. Let’s set an example here too!
