Magical Hungarian

Zoltán Gera and the Europa League trophy also visited Hankook

The Europa League football fever was already raging in April, when we drew the 200 tickets that our company purchased for our employees for the final of the series in Budapest. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, we also displayed the winner’s trophy and hosted a visit from 97-time national team footballer Zoltán Gera, the UEFA Europa League Final Budapest 2023 Ambassador.

As an official partner of the Europa Football League, our company purchased 200 tickets for the grand finale in Budapest, which we distributed among the employees. There have been several ways to get tickets: the winners of the company sports competitions (football, table tennis, basketball, darts) and the winners of the lucky draws could receive the valuable tickets.

For the latter employees could register by submitting an application form, and the lucky winners were drawn in live draws during each shift to receive their tickets.

In addition, our company organized several UEFA Europa League related activities.

One of these was to display the trophy of the major football tournament in our factory, so that the football-loving kids and employees of the factory could admire the original cup and take pictures with it.

One of the highlights of the series of events was when Zoltán Gera, 97 times national football team player and ambassador of the UEFA Europa League Final Budapest 2023, visited us as part of a full-day event.

The “Magical Hungarian” was welcomed by a large audience, who warmed up for his arrival by playing various games of skill and filling the “Gera quiz” in front of our main building. To everyone’s great delight, the former FTC player himself joined in for a shot or two. After the photo shoot, members of the press had the opportunity to interview the U21 national team captain, and then the staff had the chance to have their photos taken with Gera and have various relics signed.

Another highlight of the day was the lunch, when a few lucky colleagues had the opportunity to sit down with Zoltán Gera and ask more questions about the milestones of his career. To his credit, the 97-times national team footballer stood his ground and answered all questions and queries with great willingness.

To round off the day, the ‘magical Hungarian’ also joined the daily draw and drew the names of the lucky winners who will join the other winners in the UEFA Europa League final on 31 May.

It’s safe to say that Gera’s visit was not only an unforgettable experience for us, but the footballing phenomenon had a great time too, as evidenced by the fact that he wanted to have a look around the factory after the event, so naturally he was able to take part in an improvised factory tour.
