Massive change: a huge investment in all aspects has begun

A major construction project, expected to last until 2027, has started at our factory. The investment, worth around €540 million, will result in a brand new production line that will enable our company to manufacture truck and bus tires in Europe.

Planning the big picture

Construction work of the new production unit has begun, with a horde of earthmoving machines and trucks roaming the area next to the factory buildings. Since we started in 2007, our factory has been producing tires for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, but in two years’ time, bus and truck users will be able to choose from the range of products manufactured here. We will also produce the SmartLine AL/DL 50 and SmartFlex AL/DL 51 long-range and mixed-use premium products, as well as the e-SMART range of tires for electric commercial vehicles.  The new production line is expected to produce around 800 000 tires per year once full capacity is reached.

Quality, sustainability and efficiency in one place

Our factory is ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) certified and operates with state-of-the-art equipment, which of course includes the new production unit. It is being designed to incorporate the latest tire manufacturing technologies, so sustainable, regenerative and recycled raw materials, as well as 3D-based additives, will all be used in the production.

“We are very satisfied with the results so far,” said Park Jongho, President and CEO of Hankook Tire Europe during his visit, and added: “Once the new production line is completed, we will manufacture truck and bus tires for the European market on site, shortening delivery routes. The investment will strengthen our European site and create new jobs.”

It is a great feeling to be part of the birth of something so important and new, and we are looking forward to the developments and, above all, the final result.
