Most of the renovations are finished, but we can’t stop

In 2022, we have already reported twice on our renovations, both completed and ongoing this year, which will continue under the leadership of General Affairs in the last quarter and into the New Year. Let’s take a look at what has been renewed this year since the publication of the summer issue of Hankook Quarter.

We had promised that, given the disastrous state of the bathrooms in Logistics Phase 2, we would not only renovate the facilities you use, but also provide a bathroom for the outside drivers who are largely responsible for the dirty, damaged equipment, so that we can avoid further problems and you can continue to use the toilets in a civilized way. Work on the toilet and shower block for the truck drivers started on 10 November and it is planned to have a vandal-proof toilet block with stainless steel sanitary ware and a separate entrance, by the time of Christmas shutdown, so that the room will be physically separated from the toilets used by the workers.

Also in the magazine, you may have read that the partial refurbishment of No. 1 Black and White changing room and shower room is also planned for 2022; and we are pleased to announce that this project will also be completed by the first days of next year. Due to the tragic condition of the wall between the room and the 8 shower cabins, the entire wall will be dismantled and rebuilt, inserting the waterproofing that has been missing, also the sewer line failures will be repaired. Parallel to the planned works in the shower room, the black side changing room will also undergo a cleanup painting.
Also, recently, we have carried out some minor, but not insignificant, renovations: the replacement of the industrial dishwashers in the kitchen of Restaurant 1, the related minor building services repairs and the repair of the damage to the kitchen tiling. Also, on a smaller scale, but no less significant, we have recently replaced the toilet cubicles in the Phase 2 Curing and the Phase 1 Bead Process.

Every week, General Affairs carries out site visits to the factory; minor repairs, equipment and tool replacements are ongoing. Besides GA, the cleaning service is also active in providing comments and suggestions on areas for repair and refurbishment across the factory; and we would like to ask you to do the same. Whether the work is minor or major, you can help us schedule the process by letting us know of any problems you notice.
In 2022, the cleaning service also took on a large share of both renovation work and extra cleaning beyond other daily tasks. In addition to their daily work, the renovations carried out included final post-renovation cleanups in the renovated shoe room in the Black and White changing room, and in the new toilets in Mixing and Logistics. Over the past year, they have carried out the annual cleaning of the exterior and interior windows of several factory and office buildings, and have also helped to ensure that the new warehouses bear a nice and clean environment for the workers when they are handed over. During the second half of the year, they also carried out a complete dusting and high-pressure washing of all the forklift gates and their surroundings in the factory buildings. We are thankful for being able to count on them for this kind of work in addition to their daily work!

We will close this year with the above, but we will not stop renovating in 2023, as it is important to us that the premises you use are in excellent technical and aesthetic condition. Our first project in 2023 will be the complete renovation of the toilets on the 1st floor of Mixing, Phase 2. For the renovations completed to date, we thank General Affairs for managing and coordinating the work from planning to execution and the Facility Technology Team for their prompt and professional support throughout!
