General Affairs Unit visits various areas of the factory every week and lists the infrastructure deficiencies and malfunctioning. Thanks to these visits, this year some 150 m2 of suspended ceilings have already been replaced and/or renovated; more energy-efficient and higher luminance lighting has been installed in the maintenance workshop in Curing, factory 1.; more than 50 toilet seats have been replaced and frequently worn-out equipment (taps, hygiene dispensers, toilet seats, etc.) has been stocked. Of course, your feedback is also important, as it is obviously not possible to cover the whole area during weekly visits.
In the first Hankook Quarter of this year, we reported for the first time about the ongoing renovations since the end of 2021; and the work has been in full swing ever since. More and more areas of the factory are undergoing minor and major ‘facelifts’; and there are still a number of projects planned for 2022. So, let us see what has happened so far this year since the last progress report?

Under the coordination of CMT General Affairs and with the strong and active support of the FTT, various renovations continue throughout the factory. The 1st floor washroom of Mixing in Phase 1 has undergone a complete renovation, including the replacement of all mechanical equipment, masonry, windows and doors, tiling and sanitary ware, as well as upgrading the lighting, of course, to energy efficient lighting resources.
The refurbishment of the men’s and women’s toilets and lobbies under the CCR office in Phase 2 of Logistics was completed, which was a major challenge for both the organizers as well as the contractors: the conditions under which we had to create a new, modern toilet block were disastrous. We know that the dirty, damaged equipment is mainly the fault of the truck drivers who use the toilets; so, GA decided to create a separate toilet and shower area for the haulers. Until this is done, the newly refurbished restrooms will be locked, with keys available at the CCR office for colleagues working in the field. At the time of our deadline early September, the design and cost calculation of the truckers’ restroom was already in process by General Affairs.

In addition to the toilets, we also addressed the shortcomings of the outdoor areas: the stairs at the back of the office building and the front and rear of the welfare were completely repaved, thereby making the stairs, which had been damaged for over 15 years, completely safe again. The annual cleaning of the smoking cabins and the polishing, varnishing and renovation of the outdoor benches have also been completed.
The room for shoes in the black-and-white changing room in Building 1 also looks completely different now, as we’ve installed 10 brand new shoe lockers with 264 storage compartments, replaced the switches, painted the walls, and polished and refinished the wooden flooring and benches.
This year we are also planning a partial renovation of the shower in the black and white building 1. Here, the masonry, tiling, fittings and lighting of the 8 shower cubicles facing the black changing room will be renewed and, most importantly, the waterproofing, which was incomplete at the time of construction, will be completed, which will eliminate the decades-old plasterboard wall from soaking.

Hankook has so far spent around HUF 50 million on the renovations already presented, with another HUF 20 million expected to be spent on the remaining projects for the rest of the year. Many thanks to General Affairs for organizing and coordinating the project, and to Unit 4 of the Facility Technology Team for their help and support! We also thank you for taking care of the renewed premises and for reporting any problems you encounter! If you find any areas or equipment that need refurbishing, let us know!
