993 Hankook employees, 25,000 working hours, 300 completed projects, enthusiastic helpers, smiling faces, grateful looks: this is the balance of the past 10 years of Hankook’s “Community Together for Better” (KÖSZ) Employee Value Creation Volunteer Programme.
If we look back, we can be really proud, as thanks to the volunteers of KÖSZ, Hankook! program in the recent past 34 nurseries, kindergartens and other community areas were renovated. In 2022, the volunteers carried out various environmental improvement projects in 11 settlements of Fejér, Bács-Kiskun and Tolna counties. The company contributed nearly HUF 20 million to the success of these voluntary projects last year and more than HUF 130 million in recent years.

Civic space in the heart of the city
In the jubilee year, KÖSZ volunteers have beautified and renovated the Arboretum and nature trail on Baracsi Road in Dunaújváros, among others, by installing benches, renovating old ones and creating a barefoot path. In addition to the conservation and renovation works, the aim was to create a civic space in the heart of the city. “In 2022, we fenced off a previously vacant area behind the Riding School building, where we also set up a paddock, where the racka sheep have already arrived. We made a new garden picnic table and forest benches from logs. Together with the Hankook workers and us volunteers, we beautified this area, which is very important for the people living here, because in the arboretum you can get away a bit to nature even in the city” – said the idea owner Csaba Orosz, curator of the Public Foundation for Public Safety in Dunaújváros and its Surroundings, who has already participated in several KÖSZ projects.
Help in action
Hankook Tire Magyarország Kft. is using the program to create an opportunity for the company’s employees to decide on the direction and use of the financial support provided by the company. In this way, institutions and organizations with which the colleagues have a personal connection can receive support. The basic principle of the programme is that our employees and representatives of the organizations we support work as a team to volunteer in the communities where they live.
“We had several objectives with this programme. On one hand, to support the surrounding communities, and on the other hand, to do this actively with the help of our employees. The last 10 years have proven that this was the right decision. I am happy to say that we will continue. The KÖSZ Hankook! Value Creation Employee Volunteer Programme will be launched again in 2023. Details will be announced soon”, said Anett Szalai, Project Coordinator of KÖSZ Hankook.
