Most memorable moments of the year
The year 2022 has also passed by at a lightning speed, but before we say goodbye, let us pause for a moment and look at the milestones we have overcome to get here. On the next two pages, we have compiled the highlights of the year from January to our November deadline. Which of them was the most memorable for you?
In January of this year, Hankook Tire held its 15th Proactive Awards ceremony, a celebration designed to recognize employees around the world who have achieved success through innovative solutions. This year, we also had an award winner from our Hungarian factory: Ferenc Marksteiner was recognized by the jury as an exemplary leader. Ferenc says that the credit is not his alone, because without his superb team, none of this would have been possible.
In February, we announced the winners of the Hankook Education Support Program, who have adapted to the changed circumstances with a high level of professionalism and exceptional creativity, immediately during the online education period introduced during COVID.
In March, Hankook launched iON, a new range of tires developed for entirely electric cars, to support the drive for sustainable mobility.
In May, the month of Hankook’s “birthday”, we held our awards ceremony for handing over Long Service and Best Employee Awards. The Managing Director personally presented with the awards all those involved; and at the event on 10 May, we treated all those present to cakes, refreshments and champagne. Managing Director Kim Hyung Yun himself received an award: this year he celebrated 30 years of service with Hankook.
At the end of May, Hankook also participated in the Korea Day in the “Millenáris Park”.At the cultural and leisure event, our stand attracted hundreds of visitors, who were able to learn about our hit products, our corporate culture, spin a wheel of fortune or even take a ride in a car simulator. Three lucky people who completed our quiz correctly even won a set of tires. Hankook employees were able to travel to the event free of charge by a special bus to Budapest.
In the spring of 2022, Jármúipar and Autószektor car magazines, in cooperation with the Grand Coalition of the Automotive Industry, selected the winners of the Supplier of the Year Award in this year’s Hungarian Car of the Year competition. The award was given to automotive companies producing in Hungary that have made significant investments, increased their workforce or made improvements in 2021. Hankook Tire Hungary was the only Hungarian tire manufacturer to receive the award, along with several other automotive companies. The jury highlighted in its reasoning that Hankook’s production in Hungary has increased 3.5 times since the opening of the factory in Rácalmás.
The “THANKS, Hankook!” Employee Volunteer Program, launched for the 10th time this year, has seen our employees working on 34 projects for causes that are important to them. 8. In 2022, we have again signed a number of OEM agreements with premium car manufacturers. The Golf GTI, Golf R and Tiguan R sports models will roll out of the production line with Hankook ultra-high performance tires. We have also become the original equipment manufacturer for the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class in all markets, with three different types of tires –summer, winter and all-season. Hankook is also supplying tires for the BMW i4, the Munich-based manufacturer’s all-electric Gran Coupé. Several Audi models, including the Audi e-tron, Audi e-tron Sportback and Audi e-tron GT, and now also the Audi Q4 e-tron and Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron, are supplied with original equipment by Hankook.
From next season, Hankook will be the new and exclusive technology partner and tire supplier to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Hankook officially presented the new Hankook iON racing tires to Formula E guests and representatives, as well as delegates from the international press, at the Swarovski Crystal World event in September in Austria.
On 1 October we held the 1st Hankook Family Sports and Gastronomy Day. The Hankook House was the venue for the all-day event, which was preceded by a multi-round darts tournament. Here you had the opportunity to participate in a cooking competition and a variety of sports competitions, while the little ones were entertained with a variety of children’s activities.
Now in its 11th year, the Tire Donation Program supports public benefit organizations that are performing outstandingly useful social tasks. The winners include foundations helping the elderly, disadvantaged people, the sick and animals, as well as volunteer fire brigades and civil guards. This year’s program was open until September and the winners received their valuable tire donations by the end of November.
Our new warehouse in Rácalmás was completed in October. The building complex, consisting of two parts, provides a total of 23,000 square meters of storage space for raw materials and finished products, thus significantly facilitating warehousing and logistics processes.
