Best of Hankook

Most memorable moments of 2023

Do you also feel that 2023 has flown by at high speed? Before we say goodbye to this year for good, let’s take a look at the most memorable Hankook moments of this year. Which ones did you like best?

1.

Following a quiet January, in February we voted validly and effectively for our representatives in the Works Council (WC) and the Occupational Health and Safety Committee (OHSC) from 2023 to 2028.

2.

Our company, as an official partner of the UEFA Europa League, bought 200 tickets to the grand final in Budapest in March, so that we could cheer together at the memorable match.

3.

In April, the league fever was at its peak, as in addition to the display of the Europa League trophy in the main building lobby, the draws for each shift started and Zoltán Gera, 97-time national team footballer and ambassador of the UEFA Europa League Final Budapest 2023, visited us.

4.

The league fever did not subside in May. The draws were completed and the sports competitions were closed, revealing the members of the almost 200-person Hankook team that could make it to the UEFA finals on 31 May. In addition, we have once again announced the Thanks, Hankook! charity program. In May, we also held the company’s 82nd birthday event. We celebrated all month long, as we presented the BestEmployee and the Long Service Awards. More than 300 colleagues were congratulated.

5.

The GA Unitstarted another major renovation project in June. Their aim is to renovate almost 260 square meters of toilets and showers, at a total cost of tens of millions of forints. This has also given a new look to the Mixing, Sealant, Building and Welfare toilets, among others.

6.

In July, we launched our highly successful Tireonation Program for the 12th time. We helped over 130 charities, associations and non-profit organizations.

7.

The last month of the summer was another busy one. Shortly after the shutdown, we held our Family Open Day again, which was so popular that we reopened the doors in October. In August we also took part in the 1st Újváros Festival. And this month was not complete without donations: we supported the Útkeresés Support Service’s Toy Festival program to help familiesin need to start school.

8.

September was even more busy with hundreds of colleagues enjoying themselves at the fantastic Hankook Family and Sports Day on 9 September, which included a foam party, cultural and sports activities, gastronomic experiences and dozens of other exciting opportunities. Our company also supported the 38th Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon and the KOMETA Pairs Half Marathon, where we were represented by many of our enterprising colleagues. We were also able to visit the 19th Rácalmás Pumpkin Festival and the fishing tournament organized by the WC (see pages 10-11 for more details). In addition, the parking lot for electric scooters was completed this month.

9.

In October, the renovation of the factory entered a new phase: we upgraded the 1st floor toilets of Mixing Phase 2. The second Family Open Day was organized and the Employee Motivation Committee was set up. One of the highlights of the month was the successful BMW audit, for which hundreds of our employees were treated to a truly extravagant lunch.

10.

The fact that the first and second runners-up in the HUMDA Hungarian Rally Championship crossed the finish line on Hankook tireswas a spectacular testament to our results and teamwork. And as employees of the Hungarian factory, we can be particularly proud that our plant – as a committed believer in sustainability – was awarded the ISCC PLUS Certification in the autumn.

11.

In November, we presented the newest member of the iON product family, the iON FlexClimate, a four-season tire designed by our engineers to meet the needs of electric cars. This month, we released a video from popular vlogger Honest Car Dealer about winter tiretesting at Hankook’s Arctic Circle test track. We’ve also made it possible for you to pick up and drop off your parcelsusing a vending machine on the factory premises. In addition, we also supported the University of Dunaújváros’ Freshman Ball.

12.

In the last month of the year, we had the opportunity to use the 50-year-old Dunaújváros Ice Hall for free. And, as the holidays approached, we stepped up our charitable activities even more: we supported the Szent Pantaleon Hospital in Dunaújváros and two educational institutions. Meanwhile, the renovation work organized by the GA Unitat our Rácalmás plant continued even at the close of the year.

Looking back, there’s a surprising amount that has happened this year, and how much more is in the pipeline! We’re looking forward to it, and we hope that you are too.
